Meet the people of St. Mary's

St. Mary's is the spiritual home for a wonderful group of folks. We are young and old. We span the economic spectrum. Several of our members are attached to Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn., as faculty or staff or students. We have physicians and teachers and financial advisors and lawyers in our congregation. We have teenagers and toddlers.

Some of us were raised Episcopalian, but many more of us have found a home here after growing up in some other Christian church. Some of us are conservative and some are liberal. We endeavor to treat each other as brothers and sisters, united in our love of God and our exploration of our shared life in Christ.

Members of the church called the Vestry participate in the leadership of the congregation. Our priest, Father Chris Arnold, has been with us since August 2010. We have both a choir and a Handchime Choir, under the leadership of our musical directors. We seek to adore, honor, and encounter God in worship. We seek to help and heal the world around us through our Mission and Outreach efforts. We seek to live full, joyful lives as followers of Jesus Christ.

We'd love to have you join us!

Where we come from

St. Mary's is the spiritual home of Christians in the Episcopalian tradition in the Tri-State region. We come from Middlesboro, Kentucky and Harrogate, Tennessee. Our members gather from as far north as Pineville, as far south as Tazewell, and as far east as Rose Hill and Ewing in Lee County, Virginia. We gather from far and wide around the Altar of God on Sunday mornings, here in downtown Middlesboro. To find out how to get here, see our directions page.
